REYKJAVÍK-ANSBACH, part 2
Svava Björnsdóttir: paper
opening: Mittwoch, 25 June, 8pm (with artist talk)
dates: 26 June to 25 Juli

The reknown Icelandic artist Svava Björnsdóttir creates sculptures and objects, which claim their existence in space. The close look reveals that the artist is using paper as her medium. The massive and edgy is contrasted with the easyness and fragility of the material. Björnsdóttir creates very unique, poetic works, which develop in space, even though the still keep on being images.

After Rúrí and Gudrun Kristjándsdóttir this is already the third exhibition by an Icelandic artist at LOFT.

Svava Björnsdóttir studied at École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. Her works can be found at Staatlichen Sammlung Munich or at the National Gallery of Iceland.
